*** 3rd Tournament of ZX Spectrum games with playback feature ***
What's this all about?
The Speccy Tour 2003 is a games playing
tournament that will run for more then 2 months, giving you the time
to improve your scores in the games that take part in the tournament.
This means that you don't have to rush your scores. There's plenty of
time to make a good score.
Players, i.e.
competitors, votes for which games they want to take part in the
Tour, so don't complain if you are unhappy with some of the games ;-)
Start Date: September 15th, 2003
Ending
Date: December 1st, 2003
Ending date to vote games is September 7th,
2003.
Ending date to sign up is October 6th, 2003.
Rules:
Every player must send at least one recording on all
ten games. Players who don't submit a
score to all ten games are
disqualified. You can send as many recordings to a game as you wish,
as long as they are
higher than your previous score. For a
complete rules list remember to download the help files on the
download page.
To make a life easier for Tour's management, send one
recording per game in 1 week.
Deadline for sending scores
is every Sunday 23:59 GMT.
The last 2 weeks are on 'special regime', as we need
to avoid 'score hoarding'. During that time, when recording starts,
players have to type 'public key' for that week and send zipped
file (e.g. manic.zip) within 48 hours.
We're still talking about the AIR and RZX issue. Everybody will be able to participate the tour with any of those formats, but scoreboards could be splitted in two, the AIR format compo and the RZX format compo.
Point System:
The highest score (the topscorer) in each game gets
100 points. His/Her score is made equivalent to 100%,
meaning
that if the topscorer, for example, have a score on 100.000 points
and your submitted score is 70.000,
you are awarded a score of
70% equal 70 points. The scores from all your ten games will be added
together to get
a total score (which max can be 1000 points), and
out of that the standings will be calculated.
Unlike last year,
more then one player can get 100 points awarded for a game if we have
a tie scores.
Scores will be rounded to 0.1 points (e.g.
you'll get 69.9 pts for 69.880 score).
If two or more players have e.g. 530 points, the
player with most top scores wins. If they all tops in 2 games, the
player with most 2nd places wins, and so on.
What do I need to take part?
This year you have available even more emulators to join Speccy Tour! Current list:
RealSpectrum DOS version. It uses AIR files. Ideal if you have a slow Pentium or don't like to manage with large recording files
RealSpectrum 32 bits version. It uses RZX files. For Windows platform.
Both are available at http://www.ramsoft.bbk.org/realspec.html
Jonathan Needle's Spectaculator. It uses RZX files. For Windows platform http://www.spectaculator.com
GPL Fuse. For Linux and MAC OS X platforms. It handles the RZX format . http://www.srcf.ucam.org/~pak21/spectrum/fuse.html
We are pretty busy preparing the compo itself, so please read carefully the docs of each emulator in order how to execute/compile it and how to record games. If you still have doubts, ask for help in your favourite forum WOS/CSS/ECSS. If you are really new at Speccy emulation scene, and don't know of this forums, then send a mail to tour@jaivan.net and we'll try to help the best we can :)
What do I do with my recordings?
Preferred way is using the recording submit page
(link to be supplied later), however if you're getting trouble with
the page or you can't access it and you have to send it urgently, you
can send it to any of the tour staff members or
![]()
IMPORTANT: If you're sending it by mail, remember to use the cut and paste upload.txt file in your E-mail. You can find that txt file in the help files packages on the download page. The process is automatic and wrong formatted mails won't be accepted, thus your score won't be counted.
IMPORTANT: Always keep a backup of your
recordings, old and new scores. Tour's judges will do their best to
verify player's scores ASAP, but... the whole thing is volunteer and
'real life' is...
Prizes:
Some amazing T-SHIRTS!!! Shirts are supposed to be for the 7 first players of the 'secure' compo and the 2nd, 4th and 6th last players (i.e. if 50 players submit a score, the price would go to 49th, 47th and 45th)
I still have one or more questions, what do I
do?
Well, ask me, by sending an E-mail to
,
and your question(s) will be included on the Speccy Tour 2003 FAQ
page.
